Sunset in Richmond Photo

Photographer’s Note

A lot of sunset lovers were in this sunset point with their very expensive cameras.The most of them were Japanese.But the only representative from TE... was Ι.

Richmond, British Columbia

Richmond is a coastal city, incorporated in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Part of Metro Vancouver, its neighbouring communities are Vancouver and Burnaby to the north, New Westminster to the east, and Delta to the south, while the Strait of Georgia forms its western border. Richmond is the location of Vancouver International Airport.

History

The city was named after a local farmstead established by Hugh McRoberts. A daughter of his chose this name for their farm after one of the Richmonds in Australia (it is unknown exactly which one it is). The wife of the first reeve of Richmond, England later claimed that the city was named in honour of her birthplace. However, modern historians proved this claim to be false, since the Boyds immigrated to Richmond in 1863, but there had already been a pamphlet called "A Visit to Richmond" made in British Columbia in September 1862.

* November 10, 1879 — Richmond was incorporated as a District Municipality.
* March 25, 1910 — The first flight in British Columbia was made from Minoru Racetrack.
* December 3, 1990 — Richmond was designated as a City.

An early centre of European (and later, Japanese) settlement in Richmond was the old fishing village of Steveston on the southwestern tip of Lulu Island. Steveston is now home to several museums and heritage sites, as well as a working harbour for fishing boats. Currently, London Heritage Farm, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and the Britannia Shipyard National Historic Site in Steveston highlight these parts of Richmond's diverse history.

maybe there was a japonese member of TE,did you ask everybody?This sunset is so wonderful that I can understand that there were much people,and I am sure that it's one of the most beautiful picture done at the same time!The orange colors are somptuous,strong but incredibly soft ,and the contrast with the black silhouettes is splendid!Wonderful!

Kalispera Danos,
The shoreline makes a nice diagonal line in youy compo while the silhouette of the observation platform with the two viewers balances the sun as a focal point. Good light management adds the detail to the light radiating from the sun.

an appropriate framing to discover this beautiful scene at sunset time, including these two people standing in front of the barrier who added a good sense of depth. Love to see the sun giving the impression to touch the sea, the silhouetted hills at a distance and the color tones.

Colors are just splendid. By looking at this photo, I can imagine the pleasure you had to be there. A wonderful view !
I'm very impressive with the water calm and reflections of sun.
What a pity there's no more luminosity on the foreground. It's really the only negative point of this shot, the remainder is perfect.

Wonderful sunset by the sea. Also a very good light management. You make very good use of that the sun was not too strong and like that you still can see a lot of details in the dark beach. An excellent sunset with superb colors in the sky and too in the sea with the reflections. The sun is very well locatd in the composition nad its... square reflection too. The black FG give a greta depht to the image. Interetsing human element with the black silhouets.

a photo that you could have taken in Greece as well - once again a proof of the fact that the result depends on the photographer rather than on the theme. Sure, a bit different landscape, slightly different colours - but the same taste and skill I have learned from your Aegian sunset photos.
