Photographer’s Note
One of the most rewarding aspects of getting up early in Banff is arriving at locations like and many others sweet spots for photography. This is Cascade ponds nature park and the cool morning air brought mist to the warm water.
With side lighting bringing wonderful details into the scene I kept coming back to view this photo and decided to post this one. For the most part one reason I am attracted to this photo is the waters edge breaking up the frame in a diagonal. Of course the mist on the water here caught my attention first. The rest is natural beauty. Enjoy.

Hi Paul
Excellent light management with detail in the shadows. Nicely composed with a series od "S" curves on the diagonal as you say. The reflections and the mist add to the early morning feel here.

Hi Paul
I really enjoy your collection of Banff photos, i'm sure you have enough to keep you busy here on TE for a long time - especially with scenery like this.
I agree with you that the diagonal break is eyepleasing, along witht the symmetrical treeline following the shore.
The gravel path also follows the diagonal river perfectly.
Very well exuctued Photo Paul
I'll keep my eye out for your next piece of work
Thanks

hi, Paul,
it always a reward if you wake up earlier for photography! this is one of them! nice catch with the morning light and this type of mystery looking moment! i will suggest if you put yourself inside this photo with a fishing pole! i think that will be "cold"!

Hi Paul,
Very nice shot of this fine place - I know it well. Good early morning mist rising off the warmer water. Nice clarity and good depth. Nice work and TFS. Gerald

Hi Paul,
A simple scene but I can see very good control in the dark areas and the little bit of light breaks the monotony. I like the mood and atmosphere that you managed to capture.
Regards and all the best.
