Photographer’s Note

I asked myself why I keep on shotting children:

1)They are easy to communicate
2)Tarlabasi is close to me and since I have 2 days for my camera, they are easy to reach
3)I still have less than 10 shots for my dream documentary series
4)We have a relation that added different values to my own
5)And most important point: I need and happy to meet the light their eyes

I can not be the part of their lives but I try to be the part of their hearts. They do not always smile but they love posing, it is the part of a game for all.

Hello Figen,
A strong photo, because of the expressions of the children and of the look into the street scene behind. although they are clearly posing they each have their own look and personality, well done.

Burada (benim olduğum yerde) poz başı 1 Euro istiyor çocuklar, gözleri gülsün gülmesin, yüreklerini size açsın veya açmasınlar..sizde 5 Lira mıydı?

"Kadrajı" biraz daha aşağıdan almalıydınız. Netekim üsteki info şart değil. Ama aşağısı daha bir derinlik katardı.

hey..i like the pulsating scene..the conversion is enigmatic..sso pleasing to the eye..

i am a nature lover and i spent the greater part of my summer holidays shooting children..

Eğer eskisi gibi yorum yapma alışkanlığım olsaydı "yorum yapılacak" çok fotoğrafınız var. Herşeye rağmen böyle mutlu yüzler göremek beni sevindiriyor... Ne kadar fotojenikler!

Hello Figen,
Your personal style is getting easily recognizable, and I like it!
What I enjoy most in this picture is that the girls seem to be the most daring and self-assured, standing with their arms folded nearest to the camera. Or maybe you just directed them to do that.
I remember this area from 2007, the latest time I was in Turkey to report from the elections. I spent part of my time talking to "the man and the woman in the street" in Tarlabası (with an interpreter of course). A very interesting area.

You're wright: you've got a very nice way to get in touch with children and most of the time -like on this one- you have uncredible backgrounds. One thing though: i do think that you'd better choose simplicity and avoid the effects either yellow or sepia or i don't know what. Your pictures exist on their own and don't need it at all (according to me). Furthermore with just a pure black and white i think that you'd have a sharper deal with the light. Anyway whatever you might think this is an interesting job. Carry on and all the best.
