Photographer’s Note

Well no trains......but we have the planes and one automobile. Yesterday, I was at Sydney Airport (Domestic Terminals) waiting to collect people. While parked waiting for a phone call to drive around to the terminal and do the pickup - I jumped out of my car, stuck my lense against the high wire fence and took this shot.

Except for the two small planes in the FG all other large planes in the BG were on the move heading one way or another.

You do not have a yellow line along the road where you were waiting? Here in Brisbane they patrol the avenue accessing the airport terminals. Their aim is to get us into de car park and pay $9 for one hour parking, even if you only stay for 5 minutes.
Anyway, it is a good shot with a nice number of different airliners, at least 7.

Hi Graham, now that's dedication to your hobby, jumping out of your car when there are all those traffic-meanies ready to fine you or worse - intern you for being a terrorist - if you linger for more than 3 seconds. I like the dynamism of this photo, the planes being on the move, from all over the world and in different directions. You could be collecting advertising money from about 7 airlines I reckon :) Good spotting and great composition, TFS, Lisa.

We can assume that you didn't get run over during this escapade Graham. And.. it did produce a good muddled airport photo even if without the train.

Hi Graham,
At least that QANTAS plane has the wheels down, not like on the news tonight when a pilot forgot to drop the landing gear as he tried to land the plane, oops.
Good shot, tricky trying to compose a shot through a wire fence with one eye out for the gray ghosts at the same time.
Colour and movement, always a winner from where I sit.

Hi Graham,
It is not easy to compose with so many things happening here, but I think you did well. The light and exposure are well managed especially when it comes to the white.

Hello Graham, Sounds like a good title for a movie. Airports are usually very busy, I think you have managed to capture that atmosphere in this shot. Good natural colour, well exposed, especially with all the white about. You call this work ;-)
