A touch of autumn Photo

Photographer’s Note

This autumn I returned again to one of my favourite small forest areas in Espoo. It is called Näkinmetsä (Neck's forest) and it is located in Kauklahti district in Espoo. I had a nice walk in the crisp and sunny autumn weather, a welcomed one after rainy days. This photo is from the same pond which I have shown you here and here.

I called the pond "City Pond" in my previous uploads, because the pond is so close to the houses of Kauklahti district. Its real name is Palolampi. The forest, which is north from this pond has also beautiful rocky hills and wet swamps. The new town plans are threatening the western part of the forest, where new houses will be built. However, the main hiking path and its close surroundings will be saved.

A perfect mirror here to create these reflections. I notice that the photo was taken one month ago, so I wonder what the autumn colours would look taday. Are the birches naked yet? Or have you even had snow in this northern part of the world ;-)

Hi Lasse,
Who would have thought that this beautiful pond is so close to suburbia, your map reference puts it into perspective.
Nonetheless it is a beautiful spot, the trees with their reflection in the mirror like water look splendid.
Your composition is good, including the bank in the foreground gives a good sense of scale and at thee same time gives lovely depth to the image.

A superb mirror , in a forestry scenery . I like a lot the grey rocks , the one in the FG is very attractive for the composition .

Hello Lasse,
A beautiful and well composed picture of this forest and the pond. In the reflections I mostly like the strong colours of the deep blue sky and the few white clouds, more colourful in reflection than in reality.
Also the different yellow and green tones make it a very nice autumn picture.

What a wonderful place again! You live in an intriguing landscape - everywhere with these erratic boulders in the forests. They really give an a bit mysterious impression. This mirror of the lake here is perfect and it is the cherry on thre cake here ...

this is exactly how I imagine Tuonela! A fantastic impression of this autumnal lake. The light is very pleasant and the colors are so beautiful, especially this gentle blue is incredible. Most of all I like the atmosphere of serenity. TFS!

Hello Lasse,

Seems like autumn is late this year!
Someone told me the colour of the foliage is depending on a couple of nights with low temperature, over here the leaves blow off the trees while they were still green hehehe...
A lovely scene anyway, and the reflection is awesome!

Three things - at first glance - make this photo a beautiful one to my eyes: the fantastic and extremely clear reflections, the loveliness and tenderness of the light on the trees in the bg, the atmosphere of harmony and peace it creates.

Very, very beautiful. You used very nicely the reflection to make a pleasing compo and the light is just perfect. I also like the natural colours, which are so characteristic in you photos. Many of us would be tempted to add more saturation, namely to the sky, but you show here that it isn't needed.
