Photographer’s Note

One of Oregon’s top trophy fly fishing waters, the Williamson River heads from springs in the Winema National Forest east of the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge and flows around 75 miles into Upper Klamath Lake, 7 miles southwest of Chiloquin. The river’s claim to fame is its large rainbow trout, which migrate upstream from Upper Klamath Lake in late summer and fall. They average 17 or 18 inches and can reach up to 20 inches. There are also a few brown trout.
