Photographer’s Note
The castle was built between 1350 and 1375. In 1534 Renswoude was recognised as a knight royal residence. In 1623 castle Borchwal already expire as Johan van Reede become the owner . This Calvinistic priest finds a church more important than the rebuilding, of his own castle. In the house, on its property where Protestant meetinings kept, the house become much too small. He gets authorisation to build its own church near the castle. This fine cupola church was taken in 1641 in use. Then late Johan van Reede demolishes in 1654 the old castle and build the new, current castle.
The castle park developed itself as from that time slowly in a baroque park, with a straight alley pattern. In 1682 Johan are succeeded by his third zoon, Frederik Adriaan. He was married with Maria Duyst van Voorhout. During the absence of her man she let dig now the Grand still existing canal, compared with the castle alley. Because of this big work, much unemployed persons could helped with the work. But it had been especially intended as a surprise for her man, They are Versailles lgarden overs in that time, so they build there own French garden. On 28 November 1985 there was a big fire on the castle. The fire made a damage of millions of guldens. All the next day, they started with setting up wharf and rebuild the damage. This was reached by the energy of the current owner, baron Taets van Amerongen. In the meantime the castle has been restored entirely. For groups the castle be visit.
This is another shot of this castle, one with people, I hope you like it.

Bonjour, mon ami Jaap,

Good morning Jaap!
What a homey and beautiful little castle! These tops of the towers really are something special. Your low point of view - out of the shadow - works very well here. I would like to step into your picture now .. ;-)

Hello Jaap,
On all the sides this castle is a wonder. Here the presence of these people accentuates the phenomenon of prospect I find and give much of depth to the image. Contrasts of light between the foreground and the castle under the light gives relief which I appreciate. Good glance, thank you Jaap.

Hello Jaap.
A nicely composed shot with low viewpoint. Good exposure in this shot with much contrast, but there's lots of detail in the shaded areas. Strong perspective effect and good sharpness. I think this castle looks great under the Autumn sky, and with the sunlight landing upon it. Nice work.

Hello Jaap,
I like the low point of view here and the light and shadow contrasts. The gravel path makes an interesting lead line, taking us straight to the front door and the dominating tower. The dog walkers help contribute to the mood bringing a sense of vitality to the scene.

Good Morning Jaap, A beautiful castle with an excellent sunlit background. Colors are exceptional and your note was very informative. Yours is a beautiful country, however I have not been there for many years. Alas the last time I was in Amsterdam, the beautiful park that I remember had becoming a parking lot. Progress can be sad. As for the dog walkers, they are a bit indistinct in the picture due to the lighting, but it is surely a keeper. Regards Roger

You've been working with not a lot of light and you've been doing such a great job with that! Not many of us can do that so nicely and skillfully (me included as "not able to")! The visual results of your work is pretty attractive with an excellent choice for the low pov, a very well elaborated composition with the building and its superb architecture, the people walking their dogs, the law and the gravel pathway, very good sharpness and colors!

Hi Jaap, what a wonderful place to take your dogs for a walk! I must settle for the local park. The walkers give great dynamism to the scene. The image is superbly sharp and ahh, the sky, very nice. I like how you have not centred the path and kept further to the right. What a shame about the fire, but they have restored the building beautifully. TFS and have a good week, Lisa.

Olá Jaap, of course I like the people there. And also the dogs, specially the one at right in the middle of the way, contributing for the perspective effect. This is a wonderful low POV making us closer to the gravel. The castle stands out beautifully in the distance like a prince. Superb capture. The WS looks better indeed although maybe a bit overdone...

I didn't know that in Holland you had so many castles! And what a sober and elegant architecture!
I find here too some common features of your photos: a great sense of depth and perspective and especially a good reproducing of the local atmosphere. The presence of the two ladys makes the picture more alive and interesting.
(I've seen the ws, and in some way it's fine too, but I think that the best features, i.e.: the depth and the atmosphere are gone. I think queenmary has not understood your purpose!)

This is a great pov where you have made the viewer a visitor, able to mingle with other visitors, on their way to the castle. The dof has kept everything focussed so the details of this beautiful, imposing castle can be appreciated.
