Photographer’s Note

This is Lahaina Coast in the island of Maui. The cloud was threatening rain but the wind blew it inland up the eastern mountains.

Lahaina is the largest place in West Maui.It is the gateway to the famous Kaanapali and Kapalua beach resorts north of the community. Before Hawaii's annexation by the United States, Lahaina was the "Royal Capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom" as city signs proclaim. The name Lahaina means "merciless sun" in the Hawaiian language. Lahaina averages only 13 inches (330 mm) of rain per year, much of which occurs from December through February. In the 1800s, Lahaina was the center of the global whaling industry with many sailing ships anchored in at its waterfront; today a score of pleasure craft make their home there.

Starting on this posting I will no longer post a complete ECIF of my photo. When I was new to TE, I learned a lot from looking at the ECIF of a fellow member Norbert Woehnl. I emulate his ways of posting a complete ECIF. I asked him questions based on his posted ECIF and I learned from it. But during those 4.5 years that I have been showing mine, no query has been generated. I thank Norbert because I learned from him.
