Photographer’s Note

Was going through the book on "Che" portraits..self portraits/photographs...at a local store few days back...
Pulled out this one from the archives..
This is closest i get to "Che" :)
All over the north east most young and older men don the "Che Guevera"..the merchandise is all over the place...to them apart from what 'Che' was/is all about..it does add a sense of gravity..but hey, they know the history...the man himself...

Quotes by "Che"...

“I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting."
“I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man.”
“Whenever death may surprise us, let it be welcome if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.”
“Cruel leaders are replaced only to have new leaders turn cruel!”
“Silence is argument carried out by other means.”

Hello Sayeed. CHE is a unique phenomenon - and an idol. He is immortal. I keep asking myself why he was particularly fascinated by the young. Perhaps simply because he looked good and likable. Either way, we can all admire him still in the world. To that extent I like your photo very well. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Sayeed,
it's a simple and well executed portrait. The tight framing and crop helps to keep our attention on the subjects, the two guys and "Che" in this case :) The noise works very well in here, since it brings a nice film effect and consequently reminding me of an Ilford or something similar. Nicely done, dear friend!

Carlos

Hi Sayeed,
I like the treatment to this shot, make it seems like an older image which fit the subject well and I can almost believe it was taken back in Che's era. I would almost have use a bit of a sepia tone to gives more of a vintage look as well. Regardless, this is a find post and I enjoyed it. thanks.

Great expression, very intimate capture.
Eventhought I prefer the strong contrasts, I appreciate your soft PP here.
Best regards again.

the sharpness is exactly where you wanted,on the "che",and is not important on the 2 men! Everybody is speaking of him at present, why?Do we need a new "che" for our crazy world?

i already have a giant "red star" in my gallery. i would also post a giant "che" thereafter, but thought that it would cause some polemics...
anyway, he is of course a hero and a myth, but not only for the young people and for his good looks as wolfgang states here. it should be particulary because of his true belief in humanity and justice on earth. and for his "direct" ways of fighting with evil and unjustice.
i have always found it interesting and ironic, the way he turned into a consumers product not much after his death. but unfortunately, turning someone into an icon and a consumers product is the most clever idea of capitalism. making someone a mass production icon is the best way of "normalizing" him. che hats, che puros, che t-shirts... i find it all ridiculous. it becomes further unbearable when a young person wears a che t-shirt and claims himself being a leftist :))) so, your photo is a good documentary of this.
i wouldn't really like seeing this one in sepia. pinkish or not. b&w goes perfect.

Bonjour Sayeed,
Intéressante prise de vue, je ne savais pas qu'on pouvait trouver la photo du "CHE" si loin de Cuba. Bien vu le N/B pour cette photo.
Tous mes compliments,

Hi Sayeed,
Very good work. I love the composition and the use of the black and white. Some part of the man's soul has been captured by you. Very impressive indeed.
Thanks for sharing,
Darek

Hello Sayeed, I like your BW work, this one has the authentic old look about it, grain, motion blur, not quite sharp except for where the main interest is, in Che, a hero to many & I suspect a villain to some. Nice, interesting capture, excellent PP job. I like his quote about cruel leaders, not an uncommon occurrence.
Take care Bro.
Santo
