Photographer’s Note
“Lesotho” is roughly translated into “the land of the people who speak Sesotho”. Acording to Wikipedia about 40% of the population lives below the international poverty line of US$1.25 a day. During my journey thru Lesotho I saw a lot of shepherds carrying these blankets. Here you meet three friendly brothers all very interested in my camera.

Hej Stefan,
Unmistakably Basotho people. When I posted a picture from Lesotho several people asked why they would need those blankets in Africa!
I like the spontaneous looks and postures of these guys, neither posing nor unaware of the camera.
Lesotho has its problems, but yesterday I saw a report saying this poor country is #10 in the world in gender equality, just behind the Nordic countries and a few more. I think RSA was #9. Who would have thought that?
Hälsningar från Stockholm, där det också börjar bli ganska ruggigt nu.

Hello Stephan,
I once made a short excursion from south Africa into Lesotho.
They are indeed called the blanket people. And often with rubber boots which they learnt from the English. And living in a very harsh and cold climate...
A fine portrait against the background of their dry hilly landscape.
Regards,
Paul

Hej Stefan,
A very interesting picture! I have seen some of the picture Gert took here and understand the the temperatures here are not what I would expect of southern Africa. What is the altitude here? Interesting note, other critiques and answers about the conditions in this part of the world. I hope you will have a fine summer! Here we have just changed our clocks to wintertime...

Hello Stefan
Indeed, it is the expression of the kids that makes the photo to be so beautiful.
Best wishes,
Achim
