Photographer’s Note
We are still in Paris as I post this (and therefore without editing materials). I spent last evening having a great night excursion with a Paris TE contingent: Marc, Pierre, Diane, and Marie, all of whom were very patient with my non-existent French (and Jean, who does speak French, joined us for dinner and helped out).
At Marc's suggestion, we did a night photo shoot along the Bassin de la Villette, the extension of the Canal St. Denis in NE Paris which has lately become a popular night spot, with lighting to match.
This photo is an experiment inspired by Diane (and also by Kristine, who has posted a couple of similar abstracts recently). For this shot, I picked up the tripod, with the camera still mounted, pointed it at the water and its colored light reflections, and started walking along the edge of the basin while holding the shutter open with the remote button for about 7 seconds.
This raises the question of how to respond to the Tripod checkbox on this upload page. On the one hand, this is obviously not a typical tripod shot. On the other hand, I got this effect by putting the tripod on my shoulder with the camera mounted on it. So I'm calling it a use of the tripod.

Hello Dan -
I am not a real fan of abstracts or abstract art but this is interesting in the light trails. I am trying to think how the trails came about with you walking along the canal with the tripod. There is a pattern here, but not the random pattern I would expect with with walking. Hummmmm.... just something to ponder. Continue to enjoy your trip.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Dan
You have explained very well your technique and using the automatic translator I understood everything. Of course I saw you technic!
You post us very quickly this graphic and abstract painting and the result is interesting, despite the absence of post-treatment.
I am very happy to have met you and John.
Regards to both.
Please, excuse my bad english.
Pierre.
