Photographer’s Note
This is the quaint little village of Margarites which lies in the mountains south of Rethimno in western Crete.
Although most people in this area are farmers involved in either animal husbandry or olive growing, Margarites has had a tradition of pottery making since Minoan times. It's a perfect place to stop to browse or buy some interesting and colourful ceramics then have a coffee or snack before venturing on up windy steep roads to visit the interesting and historic Melidoni Cave.
Shot in RAW using a polarising filter and converted and edited in PSE6.

John,
This is a great shot with amazing lighting and color!
Your composition is great using the vertical format to show the depth of the scene while giving us close up detail. The photo has excellent sharpness and detail. The deep blue sky provides nice contrast for the flowers and pottery.

Hello John,
There are lots of colourful elements vying for attention here.
The strongest – the large pot of red pelargoniums and the pink ones in front of them, lie above and below that all important bottom right "powerpoint", and form a strong anchor for the composition, with the green trees behind them. Above is the fine, inky blue, cloudless sky
The hanging signboard occupies the top left powerpoint. There is a strong bottom right to top left diagonal through these two intersections.
The white line at the edge of the road makes a strong lead into the picture. Finally we have that "tree" with the wares hanging on its branches.
The sharpness and clarity are excellent and up to your usual high standard.
Now, for the second of your postings running, I'm going to suggest an alternative crop as a WS for your consideration.
See what you think.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hello John,
I don't seem to see you as much as previously.
Have you retired yet?
However, it was good to come across this shot with its strong colours and sharp focus.
The pots of plants well positioned in the frame and are even better after Peter's crop.
A good dof encourages the viewer to explore every inch of the interesting shot.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)
