Photographer’s Note
A morning mist rolled in from the Solway Firth. A rainbow struggled to show its colours through the mist and it touched down at the end of this track. That strange circle of light is it. To me it seemed like a magic portal; had I stepped through, what would I find?

Hello Bev,
This is just beautiful. I understand your feelings when seeing this. It's just like being in a fairy-tale. (Except that there are no wires in a fairy-tale ;-) )
But the light is perfect and the trees look burdened by their years, perfectly suitable for the story that this view could inspire.
Thanks for sharing,
Gert

Hello, Bev.
Went away to make a cup of tea then came back and saw this.
Fabulous!
We could comment about the composition (which is excellent) but for me it is the lighting which excels in this picture. Wonderful early morning warm light illuminating the roadside grasses, the track and the trees. And, of course, that curious and rather magical circle of light at the "vanishing point" of the picture.
Spot-on exposure, good sharpness and lovely colours too.
As they say in this part of the World, it's a wee stotter!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Bev,
A magical picture – successive layers: green grass and hedge: mist: and blue sky on top. The soft colours are lit up by the low morning sun.
The edges of the lane make a strong lead in, taking our eyes towards that misty area that hides who knows what. Even the telephone wire leads our gaze.
I've remarked before about one of your pictures resembling the opening of a film – this one has that same feeling.
The nearest tree is close to an intersection of thirds making it a strong anchor to the rest of the image.
There is also a strong sense of perspective from the sunlit foreground area into the background mist.
A fine photograph.
Kind regards,
Peter.

Hello Bev,
Oh, this certainly was an opportunity not to miss!
The light is so enigmatic; clear and bright in the f/g, hauntingly mysterious in the m/g and with the bright, focal area in the b/g.
The whole composition is well handled from the leading path to the perspective.
Best wishes,
Bev :-)

Just added this to my favourites, Bev.
You say "Had I stepped through ..." but it would have kept on being way ahead of you. Instead you made a perfect picture so typical of the Solway coast.

Landscape is not my cup of tee : not yet :).
This one, I can really feel it and smell this beautiful place, full of mood. A photograph that smells well is a good and sensual photograph. Excellent composition. The fog makes an especial mood.
I like it a lot.
Best regards. Grazyna.
