Photographer’s Note
OK I know I like finding the unusual shots and they sometimes aren't so pretty. This one was taken in False Creek and it is a very beautiful area in Vancouver, BC. Only the fairly rich can live right along the water here. The reason I took this photo was I was attracted to the kyackers quietly floating by.
Take care,
Tosca

Tosca,
This is a great cityscape taken under wonderful lighting conditions. The reflection adds depth and lead lines for the shot. The kayaks add a nice point of interest in the foreground.

Hi Tosca
What i like most about this photo is the orange reflections in the water.
And yeah, this is not your typical photo, but its great to diversify!
The buildings are very well focused, with sharpness.
Very well done

Hello again Tosca,
voilà des couleurs qui me plaisent bien, portées par les lumières douces de ce moment privilégié de la journée.
Un excellent POV de cette région qui sera vite enrobée de l'hiver froid canadien.
Mes amitiés.

Hello Tosca,
Tom (Gunbud) will be wanting to come here if he sees the kayakers!)
A lovely pov where the vertical buildings create their own patterned layer between the water reflections and the pale sky. It looks like the low, evening sunshine, painting a golden glow over the buildings. I have had similar shots in London when the setting sunsets the windows and stonework aglow.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Tosca,
beautiful buildings and the reflection is fantastic. Depth and colours are great. But the vertical lines seems to tilted clockwise a bit. It may be for distortion for lower POV. But if it is so there must be some buildings at right side having tilted a bit in anti clockwise. I think they are cropped from the frame here. Anyway it is very good composing. Tfs.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi tosca
I walked over the Burrard Bridge, & took a few shots of the False Creek Ferry. The cbd of Vancouver is more like Australian cities. Lots of little eateries, restaurants, clubs, bars etc, with people around until almost midnight. In comparison, I found the cbd of Calgary quite dead, after 5pm. The only signs of life were at Tim Hortons. Good sharpness, superb warm cold colour contrasts & excellent reflections here. Tfs!

Hello Tosca,
An interesting contrast between the kayakers and the high rise blocks in the background. The composition is made for by the beautiful warm light and the golden reflections. It looks sharpness to my eyes but this does not spoil the overall enjoyment. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Tosca,
funny you should mention the kayaks because that's the last thing I noticed on your picture! First I noticed the beautiful warm light and then the reflections in the marina. Did you try a vertical format here to catch more of those reflections? About the crop, I think I would go for something a little tighter to get rid of the unwanted bits on the right and the left. Anyhow, I like the general impression here. Looking forward to seeing your next posts! Keep'em up!
Best,

Hello Tosca,
the challenge in shooting "usual" places is finding a light, an angle, a concept, a way of shooting it that will make it look different. Not necessarily more beautiful, but different so it stands out.
I think yours stand out for 2 reasons. First, I like the strong orange cast and second, the kayakers.
I wish the people in the kayak were better lit.
see you

Olá Tosca, the kyackers can be hardly seen in this picture. They would make me push the button as well but what is great here is the wonderful golden light on the buildings and the marvellous show of reflections on the water. The WS is nice and improving the image. Excellent work.

welcome in TE!

Hi Tosca. I would say that your pictures have a typical photographic signature. Above all, you show your urban living environment. The camera is the ideal tool for this. It is so to speak, the notebook for your observations. The light in your photo is fantastic. Overall, excellent. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Tosca,
Vancouver is an impressive city especially on sunset light. If you are local, I suggest revisiting this place again at sunset, preferably with half cloudy weather to get more impressive sky. And wide angle lens to catch more of those reflections.
Lovely city scene nevertheless.

Hello Tosca -
Wonderful warm rich light on this morning and the kayak's are a nice added bonus. Do the three front and center buildings really lean to the right? I think that you need to perform a touch of Free Transform to make sure the buildings are vertical. When ever you raise you camera upward the verticals begin to lean inward or outward depending upon position. Anyway, well seen and presented.
Thank you for sharing.

hello Tosca,
the kayaks look good, but I would be more attracted by the beautiful golden light flooding the scene, it is for the moments like this that I pray whenever I venture out with my camera :) the composition works nicely, even if there are lots of details in the scene, it doesn't feel messy, for me the light does the trick. you'd need a polariser to deepen the colours and darken the sky in a scene like this, or at least work a little in postproduction to adjust levels and curves to remove the slight digital fog, I think it would improve the shot.
best,
Kristine

Hello Tosca,
I think your False Creek is one of the best from your group. I like the stark modern condos in the late golden lighting with their mirror in the water.
I would have liked more of the water reflection if possible to contrast with the urban details.
Good job,
