Photographer’s Note

autumn in New England is good time to forget all the experiments and return to the traditional landscapes, the colours are simply too great to miss. here you have view on Lake Viola in late afternoon light, I was taken by the contrasts of yellow and green trees against the intense blue sky.

I was trying to avoid uneven polarisation that almost always happens with wide angle lenses, the filter was not "dialed" to the maximum, but the fairly low sun still created strong contrasts.

Hello Kristine! No kidding, look at all these colors, look at this wonderful blue of the little lake. My friend that grew up in the Swiss mountains knows what a beautiful fall is but when she returned from this corner, she said she had never experienced anything like a VT or East Coast fall. The reflections are A+, glass clear, like my just polished mirror ... yes I am cleaning my flat. LOL. Happy days in NY ... almost weekend again ... Barbara.

Ummmmm... just gorgeous! What an understatement. I mentioned on an image last night that I wish I could see and partake this yearly splendor on a regular basis. My wife and I need to put NE on the calendar one year and just do it. I like the reflection and the diagonal look of the trees and reflections. The blue sky and stunning colors makes this a keeper and maybe one to be framed. Well done, bravo!

yes I'm almost surprised to see again your signature under such a non-abstract shot
But true, especially in canada and the north east part of the USA, it's hard to be in the middle of such fall colors for hardly a month that they should not be missed

Oh, I miss the NE in autumn! (Not so much the rest of the year....) Totally gorgeous scene, and not over-polarized (and you know I'm oversensitive to that). Great balance of elements, fabulous reflection. The only thing missing is red maple leaves (pout).

Back to realism for a little while? I enjoyed your realistic photos. Not that I don't like the abstracts, it just require some imaginations, and sometimes I get it and sometimes I'm just lost in. that why for me even in painting it is hard for me to go a modern abstract painting. I need to smoke something to do it ;)
This one is perfect, the reflection is just gorgeous, even richer in colors on the water. and a beautiful autumn day with crispe and clear day. The beauty of places with 4 season. We don't such a clear cut season here in california lowland. Great work, my complements.

How the devil are you? Is it that time again in your part of the world - I think Autumn is the one season we all love to see, and I hear New England (apart from good old Canada) is very special in the fall. Your trademark clean and crisp capture in abundance here, special colours and the top of the frame with excellent clouds also. Light is just superb here but you know that already.

This is indeed picture postcard perfect with it's wonderful colors and reflection. It looks like you achieved your goal of avoiding uneven polarization. The contrast is superb, especially in the reflection and in the skiff of clouds across the to.

The still water works like a mirror without too much loss of sharpness.

Kristine...hey...

anyone would search for their wallet seeing this postcard..of the highest quality..but what is the decision behind f8..and if i am correct out in the sun..anywhere in the world an f8 would probably throw up a shutter more than 1/100..

Youve used manual no doubt..perhaps..f12 through 16 could have been interesting but you would have to go down to 1/30 or less..

again the sky would darken out of control...you choose spot..which do expose for here kristine..the shadow areas or the highlights..???

i am guessing the red house..in the corner...

That's sumptuous, dazzling! The trees wearing their fall dresses, the very clear reflections, the perfect symmetry, the gracious sky with a light white feather, and the beautiful and striking contrast it provides with the vegetation... I like all this very much. It's a masterpiece! And, knowing, that, I am generally not fond of autumn stuff, that's a very high compliment. :)

You captured these brilliantly autum colors just in the nick of time because the recent cold snap has done something to make the autumn colors fade.
Every is perfect here with the vivid blue sky and windless day allowing for the stunning reflections in the tranquil lake.

Hi Kristine, this photo is very Jaapesque (I mean that as a compliment!). The autumnal colours are just beautiful - even by themselves - but we get 2 for the price of 1 with those amazing reflections. It's been quite a while I've looked into your gallery..this, your latest one is a calender print..calender came to my mind because Peter (Mr.Boehringer) has created one in his website. The colours here are mindblowing and the red cottage is almost unnoticeable in the deluge of strong colours. The wispy clouds also adds to the beauty, but the sky looks great in the reflection. You surely use the polariser most effectively...Excellent shot indeed! Just one question, why ISO 200, when the light seems to be adequately warm?

I don't know which to prefer: what is above or what is below?
The lake is so still that one should be afraid of taking a breath! ...so it's really a breathtaking photo!
Lucky to be in the right spot at the right time and beeing able to produce such a bright picture.
