Photographer’s Note

It is finally fall around here and the colors are out though just short of peak. With all the rain this year they will not be so vivid as last year so we take what we can get. This was shot in morning light on the lands around a public water supply; the Quabbin Reservoir.

but these are excellent colours, despite of the rain. The famous indian summer, maybe one time i will see it in original. Till then you show us what we are missing. Great job, TFS

What a pleasing and inviting composition with the single lane road leading into the vibrant forest. You captured this autumn landscape just beautifully. The morning light was perfect. In Virginia, fall color is just beginning.

It looks like autumn has arrived in New England, it is still summer here in Florida with daytime highs in the 90s. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness. The curving road leads the eye through the shot nicely.

Seems like you had luck with the autumn colours this year...!
This is awesome, with all varieties from green to deep red, really standing out in the bright sunshine...
Composition wise the curving road takes me further into the adventure..!

Wow, what a display of fall colors, well if this is not at it peak, I can only imagine what that must be like, I have been dreaming about being up here in the fall for years, but still haven't yet made it there. One day soon. This is just fantastic, perfectly time with beautiful warm light, illuminating what is already brilliant colors of gold and red. the POV and composition with the road leading in along withe the white fence and railling is just perfect. Autumn time in the north-western coast of North America, a colourful nature covers the land of the cold forest… I would never forget New York Central Park in October 2001.

I envy you for your fall colours, I’m afraid ours just don’t make the grade in comparison. Well composed, the road is a great lead-in and gives good depth, just a shame the FG is in shadow. Well captured and thanks for sharing.

A nice corner here too, you have good variations of fall colors, but in your part of the world it seems to go straight from green to red, not so much yellow

The cold snap that followed all the rain last week really did a number on the colors this year.
Looks like you got out just in the nick of time to catch these vivid oranges, reds and yellow.

Hello Greg,

Spectacular colors, seemingly bracketing the roadway. As one would expect, you are much farther along in the appearance of the warm colors of autumn in Massachusetts than we are in Virginia. The curving, converging roadway creates a hospitable invitation.

this is a beautiful composition with the shadow in FG, the white poles along the road and the still green tree between these impressively red ones. The blue part of the sky is also very pleasant. I also like the peaceful atmosphere. TFS!

Hello Greg,

I am always surprised about the colors of autumn in north america. We have not such red colors in Europe. Nice composition with the road. Perhaps only missing an element on it to fill a bit this road in the foreground, but it is my own way of seeing.
