Photographer’s Note
A short steep street from village center leads you up the hill to Chichicastenango cemetery. Large and small, new and old, all very lively painted tombs are spread on the hill. The crosses on the tombs signal to Christian belief, but it is also very common to see shamanist ceremonies taking place between tombstones.
