Photographer’s Note
Since the temperatures are dropping here in the northern hemisphere announcing the upcoming winter today an image from the white season in Bonneval, a heritage village in the french alps.
Not a great day weatherwise but a ray of sun came to lighten the XVIIth century stone houses and church as well as the few tourists in ski clothing venturing in the streets.
Time for lunch soon... Fondue anyone ?

Bonjour Jean-Yves,

Bonjour Jean-Yves,
yes! fondue for me, please!!
very preferably in this old village - to make the picture complete :)
Excellent photo both in terms of "technical qualities" and composition. I should note specially that the the sky - with loads of clouds and bits of mountains and sky - adds a lot of dynamism to this "medieval" tranquil mood :)
Very very picturesque view, indeed! and I like the natural colours very much, too.
Wishing you a nice Sunday,
kind regards

Hello,
Un endroit qui me dit vaguement quelque chose ! ;-)
Brrrr..
A+

JY,
This is a great shot of this 17th century village. Your composition is great with the street and wall leading the eye into the scene. The snow adds a feeling of quiet and calm to the scene. The lighting and colors are great and the photo has excellent sharpness and detail.
This is a refreshing scene for me with our Florida temperatures being in the 90's this weekend.
TFS,
Asa

Hello JY,
You make me shiver at the thought of winter!
Despite the threatening snow clouds, the photograph is bright and light with clear, sharp images of the buildings and long shadows over the snow.
The people add human interest in their colourful clothes.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Oh Jean Yves!
Fondue yes, yes, yes! SNOW - no, no, no!!! Did you have to remind me?? Indeed, they're calling for winter this coming week and only a few days ago, I was running around in my bikini! I'm not ready yet...
Your shot is excellent - but I can tell that it wasn't taken with the MKII ;-))) I have an eye for that these days!
Have a good week and let's hope that the snow stays in the mountains for a while!!
Take good care,
Linda

Oh JY Don't! Winter and the dreaded white stuff will arrive all too soon! ;D I have to grudgingly admit it makes a beautiful image, especially under the brief sunshine. It appears to be a very rustic old town.

Hi Jean, I do not like the late autumn and early winter, when there is still no snow, a lot of rain, short days... So the solution is - you know it also - to go to warmer lands!
But here it is quite pleasant, nice stone houses, some snow, sun is shining - quite charming.

Salut JY,
Bonne semaine,

Salut Jean Yves
Very good sharpness, & well framed & composed. The people add scale, & the snow accentuates the graphism. Good textural contrasts, between the stone tower of the steeple, & the wooden facades of the other buildings. Tfs!

Philippe

Hello JY,
so you want to present us the upcoming cold season. I'm afraid that your up to date with this picture because the weather forecast is calling for degrees below zero the next days and I'm not very glad about this truth. At least you do it with a beautiful picture of this lovely mountain village with good overall quality. So I will forgive you this horror preview. ;-)
Best wishes,

bonjour Jean-Yves

Sympathique hameau.

Bonjour JY
This was from March of last year..yes I heard temperatures are dropping fast. A lovely scene here, with the old architecture and the rusticness of the old small town. Colours on the dresses of people even though quite like specs are very welcome. Composed very well and well taken of course!

You are getting people ready for the winter. Very nice view of this very rustic town set against the mountain side. Very details and texture of the wall. Even on a cloudy day, you got some nice sun light from this side. Excellent shot.
