Photographer’s Note

...NO POINT PLEASE...

Fishermen are waiting for sun rise. Taken almost one year ago and submitted to the IPA 2009 (International Photography Awards). Received honorable mention in sunset section under pro category. Hope you like it.

In the 7th year, IPA received an unanticipated number of entries, nearly 18,000 submissions spanning 104 countries.

At first I thought it had been taken at sunset! What a great sunrise you have here. Colours are fantastic and those silhouettes of the fishermen on their boats couldn't be better placed.

Hello Parbo,

An incredible and very, very nice sunrise. Very impressive and very beautiful colors in the sky but too in the water with the coloured reflections. The black silhouets of the fishermen and the boats in the FG give a vrey nice graphic effect nad a great depht to the image.

In Italy we call a sky like that: "Rosso fuoco" (red like fire). I think this term defines well your photo: an incredible atmosphere full of pathos and evoking ancestral emotions. It surely deserves the award it won.

Olá Ertugrul,
Fantastic! And a bit out of your style, which is neither good or bad. I am more used to see less saturated colours and a strong sense of depth, which is also present here because of the "roof of clouds", but not so pronounced as in many of your photos. The FG and BG silhouettes look much 2D and I like it. I haven't seen the other submissions to the IPA Awards, but I bet it deserved more than an honourable mention, which is already an achievement.
