Photographer’s Note
Welcome to the Mekong delta. This is the end part of the Mekong river system through out the territory part of Vietnam. From Cambodia the Mekong river come to Vietnam by two main branches, they are “Tien” river and “Hau” river then there are thousand of smaller rivers and channels spread all of the West area of The South of Vietnam. These alluvial heavy carrying rivers create the characteristic for the West people. And traveling by boat is the one of the part of their life.
This small boat brings people to visit each other, it also can be used to bring small children to school and carry agro products to the market.
In some where on the larger rivers you also can see the view of thousand of boats like this making a floating market.
The picture of the lady with her hand rowing is very popular and a typical for this area.
