Photographer’s Note
another abstract to follow these two posts - here and here - still from Wendell State Forest. I had recently listened to a lecture about impressionist movement and read fascinating little book Photo Impressionism and The Subjective Image, I guess I was under their influence when creating this image.
about the photo: as with the previous abstract posts, the image is straight out of the camera, no adjustments apart from converting from RAW, resizing and adding the frame. again, I was after a mood, a feeling, forgetting about technicalities.
----------------
RAW, ISO 100, 105mm focal length, spot metering.

Hello Kristine,
Nice to see you are still posting. This one is the one I prefer from your abstract serie. I like the vertical lines with the gradation in the colors.
I am not sure we are still in photography perimeter, it seems more in line with painting but it is fun to see all the possibility the camera can offer.

Hi Kristine
I am a supporter of your explorations! I like these abstract approaches, the surprise and the treasure we reach by a diiferent mixture of the elements than by the conventional way. The blur obliges us to apprehend things differently, and open our minds to a universe more flexible. In that way, blur in photography opens a new space for the representation of the world and working in this field seems important to me. You have a beautiful range of colors here and a good movement. I wonder : do you have turned your picture 45°?

Marine

Hi Kristine
Like it because it's another way to use the camera, it gives an appealing aspect to the picture.
The electronic picture gives you at once the result, and you can try different exposures to get the one you're dreaming.

hi Kristine,
a pretty good abstract and impressionnist painting here : the soft focus, the light, the shades are nice.

Hi, Kristine -
I like this one best of the series so far. It has mood, depth, and intriguing bits of color, particularly the bit of blue at the bottom, which gives a strong hint of what you are abstracting.
I'm not quite sure how you did this, though. 1/6 second is enough to get the water blurry, but what did you do to the tree trunk?
Best,
Dan

Hi Kristine,
I can almost see the impressionist brushstrokes here..It's a strange image, simple composition, but the game of tones, their mixing in the shot gives it a very good effect, may be this blurred image should makes me feel active, but I feel tranquillity when I see it..,whatever,I think it's a good work,I'll pass by here to see if your school of painting mood has a change or it "to be continued.." :)
Best whishes,
Sonsoles

Hello Kristine,
Interesting experimental shot, quite unsuspected, but I like it. I can see this coming from your previous 'Blair Witch' shot. It's like a parallel universe next to your classic landscape pictures.

Hi Kristine,
You continue your search with a lot of success.
I like particularly the nuances of colors of these hundreds of vertical lines which contact and emphasize both.
Three tree trunks bring an excellent contrast and are very well arranged.
Congratulations, have a nice WE

Hi Kristine,
Another one that I like, it's like a rought pastel painting of the forrest. there is enough suggestion of the what it is, where the viewer can relate and use our imagination of the place. Lovely warm earth tone, there is an essence of sunset where the light shinning through the thick foliage of the forrest and good composition with the two together one apart tree trunks. I like it and love the simple frame.

Hello Kristine! It IS an interesting and fascinating way to explore things and I guess the trick is that you can still recognize things just a little, at least for me. You made a very successful step into a new avene area :))) although I would miss the other side too meaning why not doing both on the other hand sometimes we have to focus on just one thing I guess to reach what we want. Great stuff here, love the warm colors of a late August day in the forest ... thanks for trying out, inspiring us to go a step further ourselves too. Happy Sunday, standing in the woods maybe ... Hi Kristine,
I like the risks you are taking in exploring new ways to discover photographic art. Great work here - the abstract nature leaves the imagination racing. TFs. Gerald

Hello Kristine -
Maybe I am missing something here but what I remember from the d'Orsay in Paris, there was something familiar in every image to lock your eyes onto and then the artist deviated from there with technique. I think this scene lacks the eye locking element - the tree kind of does it but the reflection to the right is a different tree. I admire the idea that you are out there trying something different and that is worth multiple smilies in my book. :) :) :)
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Kristine,
this is as much interesting as the other one. It looks like a painting. I think I need to discover the long exposure in photography. A lot pleasant abstractism, nicely done!

good abstract work,
but at very low level photographic, it's a unscharp work from the technique of the camera or PC.
nice are the pastel colors in this art

Hi Kristine
I like this very much, abstracts I love and this certainly has come out very well. Like a canvas print, painted by someone with vision which you sure have. The tones and detail are quite superb.

Hi Kristine, your abstracts are as good as any painting. Your photo reminds me of an Australian artist who paints in oils, the name will come to me later. Those green and gold tones with the hint of ming blue down the bottom are wonderful. Excellent work and it's always entertaining to view your work and read your Notes (they give me a giggle), Lisa

Hi Kristine,
This cool image looks like an impressionist painting indeed, with pixels imitating brush strokes.
The subdued colours work well, with details like a subtle highlight and turquoise.
Very pleasing result to look at.

I don't have much to add critique wise. It would be a hard photo to give a technical critique to, so I will just say that it's fabulous.

Hi Kristine,
This photo looks like a wonderful painting.
I have been trying to take pictures like this, but I never got one to be as great as the ones that you posted.
I am definitely going to read the two books that you mentioned. I'm very interested in learning this technique.
Bravo!
