Photographer’s Note

For thousands of years they have been around. Once they must have been more numerous, but even today there are still four to five million sadhus, constituting about half a percent of the total population of India.

The sadhus radically renounce 'the world' in order to focus entirely on their enlightenment. They abstain from sex, cut all family ties, have no possessions, no house, wear little or no clothing and eat little and simple food. Usually they live by themselves, on the fringes of society, and spend their days in devotion to their chosen deity.

Hello André,
These sadhus are forever photogenique with their bright saffron colours and their painted foreheads. You found this guy in a remarkably nice position. He is well framed by the arch and the pillars and the sandstone colours provide a pleasant background. Perfectly soft light with no harsh shadows.

il semble bien s'accomoder de cette vie ascètique. Bon POV bas avec l'arrière plan, cadrage sur un point fort de l'iamge et couleurs harmonieuses.

Magnifique portrait, belle tonalité de couleurs et beau cadrage. Le personnage semble vraiment être illuminé par sa foi et son sourire transpire le bonheur et le bien-être.

Hello André,

Comme la précédente, je trouve que tu as su jouer avec les couleurs ici. Les teintes sont à nouveau très harmonieuses. On ne peut qu'admirer cette personne haute en couleur qui semble jouer un brin la comédie pour toi.
