Photographer’s Note

The 19 windmills at Kinderdijk are the original ones, in their original positions and have been restored to form a wonderful, idealistic panorama of historic rural Holland.

All the well-preserved specimens are on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list since 1997.

Salut André,

Une sacré vue que tu nous proposes aujourd hui avec cette photo en contre-jour qui nous dessine les silhouettes en ombre chinoise.
En plus, la composition de l image est bien equilibrée entre les moulins et le pecheur. Tu devrais casser la baraque avec cette photo.
Entre ta photo et celle de Carper, ca donne envi de visiter les Pays-Bas.

Que c'est beau !
Rien que les moulins en ombre chinoise auraient été merveilleux... mais comme tu es Mister André, tu nous offres en plus la cerise sur le gâteau (ou le ver sur la canne) : le pêcheur.
Beau moment de plénitude que tu réussis à retranscrire, bravo.

This is a beautiful river scenery, and full of inspiring details. The fishermans rod draws a wonderful horizontal line through the picture connecting left and right. The windmills, and sun are beautifully aligned and give a sense of perspective and continuation.

Good shot with the silhouettes of fisherman and windmills. I suppose you put a yellow filter (or post processed on PHOTOSHOP) to get those yellow-orange hues.

Hello Andre,
A lovely tranquil mood eminates from your shot. The orange tones are just for the Netherlands colour ;o) and the yellows are so warm and inviting, so cosy. The silhouettes of the fisherman as well as the windmills are just great and give us an idea about the country the shot was taken in. And lastly your title is well suited as it looks like he is fishing to catch the golden globe of the sun. The weather seemed perfect for your visit to the kinderdijk and to get this wonderful ambience :o)

Bonjour, André. Là tu te rapproches un peu de chez nous. Kinderdijk, un lieu magique qui a été très souvent photographié. J'aime beaucoup ta façon de le présenter. Les silhouettes se détachent magnifiquement sur les tons orangés du ciel reflétés dans le canal. Le pêcheur est très bien positionné dans la composition et donne de la profondeur à l'image. Il se trouve juste entre les deux moulins de l'arrière-plan. Une très belle réalisation!

Very nice colors, did you use a filter on this one?
The effect is very nice, only two tones orange/yellow for sky and water and black for the silhouettes.
Well composed with the fisherman on the right front and the mills accros the water.

A real lesson on how to catch silhouettes, a lesson on elegancy.

Gorgeous sunset colours, reflected so well in the canal/river. There is just the right amount of silhouette and every silhouette is recognisable to make a wonderful composition.

ouip, très beau. Les silhouettes toutes plus belles les unes que les autres qui se détachent parfaitement, le dégradé dans le ciel...quant à la saturation, j'accroche un peu moins...c'est vraiment violent là!

Je ne sais pas comment tu as obtenu ces couleurs magiques mais c'est vraiment fabuleux. En plus de ça, on a droit à une super compo avec le pêcheur qui vient compléter ce merveilleux paysage. C'est parfait, quoi!

Three continents spanning your last 3 posts, and each of them a lesson for me. Seen quite a few pictures from Kinderdijk, but this one would rank right at the top...brilliant. Without the silhouette of the fisherman in the FG, this would be half as interesting. Permission to add to my favs pls!

Another one going into my favourites. Always like shots with warm colurs.
