Photographer’s Note
The Meduna river valley, called Valle di Tramonti (sunset valley) is one of the biggest in this region. It is an ancient water course, which, due to its morphology has been used to build the artificial lake of Redona (Diga di Redona/Tramonti), the very small town to the right.
There are roads on both sides of this elongated lake, which lead to many picturesque and quiet locations and towns, aswell as to other, higher located artificial lakes (Lago di Selva, Lago del Ciul). The road to the right of the picture leads on till you get to the Passo del Rest (mountain pass) from which you can travel further on to the beautiful region of Carnia.
Coming back at sunset time from a mtb-ride I saw this wonderful moment of quiet waters AND beautiful light and couldn't resist getting off the bike and taking this shot facing NNE.
Difficult contrasts prompted me to bracket exposition and so I worked on three DNG files with FDRTools and RawTherapee.

HI rene. this is a superb photo. Looks like an old postcard that I might find in a collectibles fair, something from the early 20th century. whatever you did to the image it has produced a marvel. Such richness in tones and light. My compliments. Klaudio.

Deine
Bea
