Three hours ago, I took these picture during a stroll along this wonderful area, one of the most beautiful areas in Flemish Belgium.
This where a lot painters everyday make lovely paintings.

In the summer months July and August you can sail to your heart's content during the summer cruises on the Lys, the Scheldt and the channels. The theme of the story is the Lys, the French and Flemish Lys connects. Additionally you can also discover the Flemish side of the Scheldt, and the canal Roeselare-Leie canal Bossuit-Kortrijk.

prachtig john.
heel fraai genomen foto. het had er eentje van mij kunnen zijn. Op het formaat na. Dat is een compliment. Een klein beetje meer contrast had ik hier nog wel toegevoegd,l verder perfecte foto.

Hi John,

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The trees are framing well the river. The point of view takes our eyes toward the trees in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The afternoon light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Dag, John. Een zeer goed perspectief met de rivier die ons uitnodigt om hem te volgen. De lucht met die zware wolken ziet er zeer mooi uit. De herfstkleuren beginnen aanwezig te zijn. Het groen van de bomen heeft een beetje van zijn kracht verloren. Mooi licht en uitstekende scherpte.

I am glad you did not increased contrast and saturation. I love the mood of this picture the really conveys a feeling of painting. The composition is excellent I love the bending path and the diagonal line of the jetty. TFS and have a nice Sunday evening!

Hoi John,
Als je hier iets meer contrast in had gestopt en misschien wat meer verzadiging had je er misschien een andere naam onder kunnen zetten als je met verf in de weer was geweest. Een heel herkenbaar Vlaams/Nederlands landschap.
Een zonder meer mooie compositie met ietwat grijze kleuren (kan ook aan het scherm van mijn laptop liggen).
Goed fotowerk.

Olá John, wonderful idylic place indeed. I understand why painters were atracted here. I can only imagine myself cycling on this path. I like your improvements in WS although it also seems a bit overdone. I usually don't apreciate the results of noise reducing but don't pay much attention, that's only details of my personal taste.

This is a fine shot! Your composition is great using the path along the side of the river to lead the eye into the shot. The river leads the eye through the shot nicely as well The lighting is magical here bringing out warm colors and nice hues.

A picture fresh out of the camera and posted...indeed the light is sublime, painters light and the scene so beautiful...no wonder painters are attracted to the beauty. As always the perspective is well created with the path and the canal. Maybe a bit of contrast boosting would have been better..but as it is in the mellow light, looks very good

Hi, John -

Indeed a lovely photo of a lovely scene. The light here, which is perfectly captured, is the same light we saw last week (some of the time) in Paris, which gave me a better understanding of the light as painted by the impressionists.

Patrick says he sees a yellow cast here. I can see how he would say that, though I think it is more a case of adjusting brightness overall. However, to me it is within the range of individual taste - or individual monitors - rather than a flaw. Chacun a son gout.
