Opera Charles Garnier

Napoleon III designed the current asking Paris to Baron Haussmann to open broad avenues and build new buildings.
The Opera Garnier was to build the Opera Bastille considered the Opera of Paris.
The architect Charles Garnier won the tender for the construction of the building May 30, 1861.
Its construction will take 15 years from 1861 to 1875. This opera is the image type of style "Second Empire". Its facades are decorated with sculptures representing Poetry, musky, dance and music drama.
The photo is a tight group plan Aime Millet adorning the roof of the Opera. It represents Apollo holding his lyre, music and poetry. He also serves as a lightning rod.
