The Leah Marie sits at its dock, waiting for the next fishing trip. Guanaja is a fishing community. The boats will leave for months on end, returning with hulls full of snapper and lobster.

Guanaja is the easternmost of the three Islas de la Bahia (Bay Islands), followed by Roatan and Utila. Most of Guanaja's population is concentrated on a little key island less than half a square mile in area. Around 5000 people are packed onto this little island called Bonaca, because the sand flies on the main island were such a nuisance that most people live over the water or on small islands to keep away from these pests.
