Photographer’s Note
Cluny Museum
19 and September 20, 2009 were the Heritage Days. These days can visit free museums and individual (Palais de l'Elysee).
Being in Paris, I took advantage of the sun on Saturday to go to the museum of medieval Cluny in Paris. Unable to bring my "reflex", I resumed my old cannon bridge to present the court in the Cluny Museum. This tower was used by the abbots to enter their mansion. The museum is located on the Gallo-Roman Baths (1st-3rd sc) and Hotel Abbot of Cluny (late 15th sc). It was founded by Alexander Du en1843 Sommerard, collector of the Epoch of Middle Ages, lived in the Hotel de Cluny.
The Latin Quarter of Paris is known for the artists but also students: is near the Sorbonne. Hotel de Cluny Abbey was the Paris residence of the abbots of Cluny in Burgundy. It was built in the late 15th sc by the Abbot of Cluny: Jacques d'Amboise (1485-1510). The building was erected on ancient Roman baths. Typical of houses from the Middle Ages, he includes a closed facade to the city and opens onto the rear garden.
The garden has been reconstructed such that at the time:
the Ménagier or garden, plants lined "pot" the most consumed: cabbage, onion, chives ...
- Garden of simple medicines has nine plants essential medicine which medieval sage, hyssop, rue, wormwood ...
- In the heavenly garden blooming roses, violets, daisies and daisies, lilies and iris, which symbolize the Virgin.
- The garden of love evokes its refined architecture, lawn benches fragrant thyme and carnations, potted plants, topiaries, courtly love and sensuality.
- The playground, a large meadow dotted with flowers, is decorated with a fountain.
- The sunken road, planted wallflowers, valerian, pink Christmas, evokes the ancient paths of the Montagne Sainte-Genevieve.
- The carpet thousand flowers, facing the museum invites the visitor to enter to find and tapestries that inspired it. Plant fragrant, honeysuckle, jasmine perfume the museum courtyard.
The Cluny Museum is rich in works of art, you can admire the beautiful tapestry of "Lady and the Unicorn". The unicorn symbol for the people of the Middle Ages all the fears about what they do not understand.

Bonsoir Marie
Bon choix pour honorer les journées du patrimoine.
Un ciel qui met en valeur toutes les nuances de la pierre et une note intéressante.
Bonne soirée.
Cordialement.

Marie,
This is a nicely composed shot of this museum tower. The vertical format of the shot works well allowing us to see the height of the scene with close up detail. The people add a sense of scale to the shot. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness.

Asa

Salut Marie,

Bonne journee jY

A beautifully taken photo Marie of a classic old Parisian building (one that they didn't demolish in the 18-19th century. Good composition, great sky.

Hello Marie!
I really like this one!
Vertical format and pov were excellently chosen!
Level of sharpness, exposure and colors are outstanding features in this image as well!
The two people talking in the right bottom corner of the image give us a very good sense of scale!
Interesting and beautiful architectural details!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan
