Photographer’s Note
I previously posted a few different points of view of this rockpool at Bronte. I have a fascination for pools like this which are saltwater and are natural tidal pools. The sea to the left of the walkway is the Pacific Ocean.

Hello Lisa,
A very effective and thought provoking composition. I feel I drawn to walk along the jetty; at the same time I wonder what i am letting myself in for. All to with the long exposure I guess; whatever very well done.

Hello Lisa
Wonderful shot.
You've done an excellent use of this wooden pontoon to lead the eyes throught the picture. The composition is striking, each detail is perfectly thought, like the rope right in the low left corner. A very elegant curve. Perhaps I would have just cropped a little on the top to have the other extremity of rope exactly in a diagonal.
The quality is impressive despite the difficult conditions. The fine sharpness reveals many details, and the long exposure is a judicious choice and provides a mysterious mood that makes the difference.
Compliments for your excellent work.

Karine

Hi Lisa.
I'd never have thought the Bronte rockpool could be so dark and mysterious looking. The amazing effect of the exposure on the white water makes it look like mountain tops poking out of clouds. Which would make Stairway to Heaven an apposite title, perhaps! Seriously, it's a fascinating photo, with the sharpness of the walkway and steel rails contrasting so strongly with the background. My only suggestion for any improvement would be a crop to bring the rope closer to the top right corner. Hardly a big point. Really good, inventive photo.

Andrew

Lisa,
I like very much :) There are a lot of nice things about this photograph. But everyone has covered them so I need no comment further :)) Yes, it does creepily appear as being on the Abyss edge.

Ciao Lisa,

Hi Lisa,
Your rock pool series has encouraged me to go out at night and try something similar with long exposure, but I have to wait till the hayfever season is over. What you have done here is superb, really. The waves appear like clouds seen from a high altitude, and the spot light has given you an incredible definition.

Hi Lisa,
Very fascinating photo! It's an excellent idea to put the rope crossing diagonally between the moving water and the water standing still. Waves look fantastic sea of clouds thanks to the perfect use of the long exposure of 62 seconds created
Best wishes, Hisashi

Hello Lisa,
really an impressive photo which is of great inspiration to me.
I've always wanted to obtain that smooth and "foggy" effect on the water but I never had the opportunity even to try.
I like the strong chromatic contrast between the illuminated part at the right and the intense blue ocean to the left. Fine diagonal too.
I guess it is a swimming pool, isn't it?
Have a nice day,

Superb again Lisa. The ocean part of the photo, in particular, looks great with the rope around the edge of the pool providing a good focus as well.

Hi Lisa,
Sticking to one subject is fine as long as you work towards perfection. The way long exposure shows breaking waves on those rocks is dreamlike. Reminds also mountain peaks above clouds. Very cool.

Ciao Lisa! You are working REALLY well with the Bronte pool. Sometimes you have to find these places and it comes easy - or maybe not so easy - to make a fantastic shot. It suits us, no matter what. I have commented your Bronte shots before and what I always like when I see it are these silver hand rails, they give a fantastic contrast to the otherwise smoothness you gave with the long exposure. Excellent shot, very very good, you have to continue with the pool :))) or maybe you find another one ... Barbara.

hi Lisa,
I really like this one, the unusual combination of moss green and purple create a moody photo, the scene is almost menacing even though there's nothing immediately dangerous, I guess it's the mood. and good use of the walkway to lead the eye right into that purple smoke. great shot, my compliments.
best,
Kristine
