Photographer’s Note
Melbourne is a city which seems to effortlessly enjoy class and sophisitication. It can not be described as just another city but rather a very unique and memorable one. The city has a population nudging 4 million, making it Australia's second largest city. Visitors describe it as being the most European and cultural of Australia's capitals. The city hosts many wonderful events annually, including the AFL Grand Final, Australian Open and of course the Melbourne Cup horse race. The Olympics were held here in 1956 and the Commonwealth Games in 2006.
This view is taken from South Bank looking across the Yarra River at the eastern portion of the CBD. The beautiful older buildings are the domed Flinders Street Station and the Chrurch spires of St. Pauls Church. The financial towers around Collins St tower to about 260m high in the background. Taken during a very cold July night, to the sound of a Scottish bagpiper busking close by.

Hi Matthew,
One of those classic pictures of the skyline. This one tops a couple I had take, I like the large format-ish presentation.

Hi Matt.
Another first-class night shot. I particularly like the way the dome and the spires of St Paul's make a contrast with the glass and concrete towers. The sharpness is terrific and the water has a lovely sheen on it.
The 'More Photo Info' link shows the exposure time as '0', when it must have been a few seconds at least. Some gremlin in there.
Anyway, good note to go with the shot.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Matt
Great night view with a stunning reflection. The yellow of Flinders' Street Station stands out so well. Like the "stars" too.

Hi Matthew
Good to see a new post from you! Superb symmetrical reflections in the Yarra River, with good sharpness. I really should rediscover my own country one day, but I'm having too much fun exploring the rest of the world! Good sharpness & framing. Well done!

Hello Matt, I think I know exactly where this was taken from, well maybe not exactly but within a meter or so ;-), The Grand Final was played on the last day of September & the Melbourne cup will be run on the first Tuesday of November (I think). Beautifully done, excellent colours, reflections & detail. Perfect star patterns.
Thanks
Take care
