Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel viewed from the Chic's (not Chick's) Beach area of Virginia Beach. This late 1980's photo was a result of being stuck in the sand! While being slightly aggravated by my situation, I looked out the window, saw this scene, grabbed my 35mm Minolta and took three or four photographs.
While I admit this photo would have been better if I could have captured more water to the right, but there are several private homes blocking the view. This is a wide angle photo, I just composed for the grass, not the houses! I've thought about painting this photograph to include a few sailboats and more beach.
This bridge extends approx 17 miles from Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia, crosses the Chesapeake Bay and connects what is referred to as the Delmarva Peninsula along the eastern seaboard. Delmarva is an acronym for Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. This narrow stretch of land along the coastline is one of the last vastly undeveloped areas of the east coast.
NOTE: I intentionally display photographs smaller than the normal size photos shown on Trek Earth. This is to discourage copyright violations.
