Photographer’s Note

As promised on my previous post, where I presented you the entrance of this place, here are more information about the Abbey of Thoronet.

I took this photo from the olive trees field (see WS). My objective was to capture the simplicity which makes the magnificence of this abbey.

It is a cistercian abbey, built between 1160 and 1230 (you will find 3 abbeys from this style in Provence).
It was damaged during the french revolution and renovated at the end of XIXth century.

Geographically speaking, it is located in a small village in the Var (half distance between Marseille and Nice). If you are in the region, it is worth a visit.
