Fire in the sky Photo

Photographer’s Note

Above Plaka, Milos' capital, on the way to Kastro, the old castle of the island, you can enjoy on of the most spectacular sunsets of the Aegean.

You can also see the remains of the old castle and three beautiful churches. The one to the left, is Panagia Thalassitra (1738) and a bit more to the right is the tiny church of Panagia Eleousa. On the top of the castle you can also visit another church, Mesa Panagia or "Skinitiossa".

In the photo, you can see the entrance of one of the largest natural harbours of the Mediterranean, the Milos Gulf. To the left, you can see the edge of the one "branch" of Milos, the Vani Cape. If you ever reach there (through dificult dirtroads) you 'll see one of the most unexpected greek landscapes, the abandoned iron mines, with incredible red rocks, a "far west" scenery (coming soon in some of my future posts). You can also see the uninhabited island of Antimilos or Erimomilos.

If you take a better look, you might also see on the right side, a photographer with a tripod (I think she was an Italian lady), photographing this magnificent sunset.

sí, puedo ver claramente la fotógrafa con su trípode intentando inmortalizar esta maravillosa puesta de sol.
Y tú también lo hiciste, captando la magia del momento y sus preciosos tonos naranja que hacen arder el cielo azul, desde un gran POV que nos ofrece una magnífica vista sobre este bello paisaje.
Es una foto espectacular, limpia y profunda, y que tiene una gran fuerza de atracción visual.
Impresionante trabajo, amigo mío. Creo que debe estar en mi lista de favoritas.

Spectaculr view. Jaw dropping really!
I think you have uploaded something from this place already but this one has this fantastic cloud with amazing sunset colos and very original shape. The colors overall are stunning. Plus incredible horizon, plus nice simple architecture.
I get that a lot that when I set up my tripod somebody is already there with a tripod -funny thing.

This one is fantastic!
The pov was very well chosen, the composition is pretty effective, totally successful and its visual results are very attractive and wonderful!
Level of sharpness and exposure are just perfect!
But the real highlight here are the colors, man, they're magnificent, all over the image but specially in the sky!
