Photographer’s Note
This overpass is in Banff National Park and was built for Wildlife crossings only. With over 30,000 vehilces passing daily, thesed structures have greatly reduced roadkill. Wild animals need to move freely throughout their habitat to stay healthy. As of January'09 eleven species have used the crossings through Banff National Park on the TransCanada Hwy over 183,000 times since monitoring began in 1996. Eventually the trees planted on the top and sides will help disguise the overpass making it feel more like home to our four legged friends.
