Photographer’s Note
This little boy is sitting in the back of his grandad's pedicab. An old form of public transport, which is still very much alive in Shaoxing.
---
Shaoxing is a major city in the north of Zhejiang, about halfway between Hangzhou and Ningbo. It is well known for its rice wine (which we mainly use for cooking) and its stinky tofu.
Its main tourist drawcard is as the hometown of Lu Xun, probably China's most loved novelist of the 20th century, but the city also has an interesting history as one of the region canal towns.
The Chinese text on the pedicab reads: "Teach politeness to Shaoxing people, strive to the nation's politeness" (with thanks to wawa for the translation).

The blue color gives a great atmosphere to the photograph. The kids placement also very pleasing Though there is a bit of shake but I understand the conditions and your idea of capturing the moment.

Hello my dear Benny
What an amazing and unique shot !
Good framework and nice shutter chance.
A little unsharp for the boy's face, but it does not so much matter, this is your typical style, that I like.
Congratulation on your good output.
Thanks for sharing and best regards,
Have a happy weekend !

Hi Benny
Nice to see you back with this nice shot. Natural blue frame with the characters make it a success. Shame you didn't capture all of the text. It could be translated as something like "Teach politeness to Shaoxing people, strive the nation's politeness"

hi Benny,
the photo seems a little out of focus for my taste (and why these particular settings? 1/25 seems way too slow, and f/22 - way to narrow). on the other hand, I like a lot how you have framed the photo, the boy seems to be completely separated from "this" side of the world, it is almost scary, as if everyone on "this" side was under quarantine. interesting :)
best,
Kristine

hej Benny
You have a certain eye for finding those fantastic images, this peekaboo is really a warm smiling postcard from real china, just missing little little sharpness

Hallo Benny,
Hele mooie foto van dit jongetje. Erg kleurrijk met alle kleine attributen achter in de pedicab.
De foto had wat scherper gekund.
Groet,

Benny: it's been a long time - i'm busy these days... these are my favorite sorts of composition - nice internal framing, local script - perhaps a bit soft. best, c

Hi Benny,
I just love this wonderful shot with this extraordinarily photogenic window and Chinese signs.
A bit on the soft side, but what you have lost in sharpness you've gained it in emotion.
Cheers!
