Photographer’s Note
Hi there, this photo was taken just at the top end of the Falls Of Dochart at Killin. There had been a couple of days of heavy rain prior to taking this photo so the river was in full spate. Just managed to get this photo before it started raining again :)
The Falls of Dochart are situated on the River Dochart at Killin in Stirlingshire, Scotland at the western end of Loch Tay. A bridge crosses over the river just as you enter Killin giving a fabulous view of the falls as they cascade down over the rocks and around the island of Inchbuie, which is the traditional burial place of the MacNab Clan. The MacNab Clan were once dominant here, and have long been associated with Killin. Their ancient burial ground is on Inchbuie in the River Dochart, just below the Falls, and is visible from the bridge.
Hope you enjoy the photo, thanks for viewing!

Hello, James.
A beautiful photograph of a beautiful and well-known Perthshire scene. The peaty colour of the Dochart in spate is well shown.
I like the way you have added "motion" to the water with a slow shutter speed and the colours and sharpness are superb.
But there's just one wee thing that worries me a little here and I think it is perhaps why this photograph has not received the acclaim it deserves. If you look around areas which are contrasty, such as the dark trees against the sky, you can see a definite pale "halo" effect which detracts from the otherwise excellent quality of this picture.
I'm not sure how this "halo" has come about in your case, but I have found it is very easy to get it if I use that very useful tool called "Lighten Shadows/Darken Highlights". Just the slightest bit of "overdoing it" with that tool, and these halos seem to plague me. I'd be interested to know what you think might be the cause, James, and whether it was indeed the use of that feature in Photoshop which caused it.
Otherwise an excellent picture showing the falls from a fine viewpoint. Definitely worth "deux points"!
Best Wishes,
John.
