Photographer’s Note

Port of little town Rovinj on the peninsula Istria in May, just after rain. A warm breze and a lot of warm colours made us company that evening.

Hello Mateja,
A very good POV with the port and the smaller boats on the foreground and the town with the church on a hill rising up behind it.
The pictures I've seen of Rovinj remind me a little at Piran. Of course, it's not really that far away.

First I love your name! Not that you had any say over the matter, but still.... it's a lovely name.

Second, thanks for stopping by my gallery!

Third, thanks for sharing this image of Rovinj. I can almost feel the stillness and humidity, and I love the colors of the boats and buildings. I agree this is a thoughtful composition. I like that the boats are facing toward us. My eye starts with the tan boat in front, then back to the red boat behind it, and all the way back to the spire on the building in the background. Some people dislike centered shots such as this, but I like them.

It is a shame the horizon is tilted to the right. That can easily be corrected with decent photo-editing software. Even Picasa, a free tool from google, can straighten a photo. I have the same problem, but since I know that I tend to skew my photos a little, I always take several shots. I purposely tilt my camera a little left, then a little right, etc. so I can be sure to get at least one straight image!

hi, Mateja,
i like this a varity of boats fullfill into this photo. what a busy port! if the rain didn't come, i bet these boats are curising around and won't be stay here. its also good to use wide angle for it. well done!
