Photographer’s Note

When hurrying home after taking surfers' shot, the sunset tinged the sky with a rosy flush unexpectedly in this summer in Japan. It made me stop the bicycle and down to the beach. Everyone on the beach was watching the natural spectacle in fascination. A typhoon from far away had brought fortunately rare waves to the beach.

Superb shot! The fanning waves in the FG, the wave like clouds in crimson colour, the wonderful framing between 2 silhouetted outcrops on either side of the frame...wonderful!

These purple color hues - fantastic and the reflection in the sea is stunning. Must be a very beautiful place, just to stand there and watch the sunset. Sharpness and DOF are perfect. Well done

Superb work, Hisashi. The hues are very beautiful, the movement of the wave is perfectly captured to create a strong dynamic impact; the whole is really fascinating, with a good balance of the elements in the picture (I love the soft cloud shape and textures). Congratulations!

Hi Hisashi, Your choice of shutter speed has given good dynamic effect on the water surging up the beach. Inclusion of the swimmers also provides good focal points. In this shot, I quite like the central composition too. Cheers, Steve

Very lovely shot, I like how the wave seems to mimic the pattern of hte cloud. Love the motion of the wave. Compositionally, I would have like to see more of the top of the sky, so your horizon is not too center and the colors saturation may be a bit hot. Regardless, the motion effect of the wave make this shot worthwhile. Thanks.

I wish I was there. It is the strengh of this shot providing nice sunset colors. The people in the sea are an invition to go and enjoy also.
Nice balance in the composition between the wave in bottom and the shape of the clouds in top. It justified the centered composition.

Interesting how waves and clouds form almost symmetric counterparts. Warm tones of sunset look great. Nice that there are still so many people swimming that time of day.

Hi Hisashi,

the moment was perfect. I always look for those ones. In this case the 1/15sec was essential for the effect we see in the foreground. It brings a nice dynamism to the scene. Really beautiful view!

Incredible and very nice colors in the sky but too in the sea with the rfelections. Excellent framing too with the two cliffs - on the left and on the right - which give depht too the image. The black silhouets of the peopels give an interetsing element of life and an idea of the sacle of the place.
