Photographer’s Note

In my earlier post from Phattalung I promised to upload another picture of the fast approaching tropical storm. This one was perhaps one or two minutes before the "wall of rain" reaching me.

In particular upcountry pick-up trucks are the most popular motor vehicle in Thailand, which also is the second biggest pick-up tuck market after the U.S. worldwide. Jams like the one in this pictures are very common upcountry. It's not only the price tag, as little as 400.000 Baht or a bit more then 13.000 USD you have to pay for the entry level pick-up truck model, but also the versatility which attracts Thais to the one-ton vehicle. Roads can be bad, or you have to transport goods or people, a pick-up can do.

Hi,Urs,
Fine colourful shot from urban life. An interesting note about pick-up.I remember this cars as taxi in Pattaya. This is not european safety standard ;))
I have 10-days trip to Thailand in 2006: 2days in bangkok and 8 days in Pattaya.

dear Urs,
crowded street and thick gray cloud make unusual atmosphere in this.
you successfully captured it and express it by this motional perspective.
colorful panels and upper gray sky and lower gray cars make eye catching color contrast in it.

Hi Urs,
Very busy street and nobody cares if the storm is coming. .... they are used ! Nice composition, colors and reflects perfectly the chaotic traffic. Your note is also interesting. I notice that this street can be one of the thousands of streets around the world. No trace of Thailand, except some publicity. Also I am surprised how well done are the electricity supplies, so different from the other Asian countries I have visited.

really from this threatening sky the rain is so close in the city.The cars confusion make the scene make the scene more dramatic.
