Photographer’s Note

Along the seaside of the part of Bergen called Skuteviken, and in Sandviken further north, there is still some old warehouses/seahouses left, some of them dated back to the seventeenth century. Many of them was owned by shopowners in the center of Bergen, and some of them had a little room in their building wich was used as a "summerhouse" during the summer. As a tourist attraction, it stands in the shadow of the more known Bryggen. Some mean that these warehouses along the seaside of Skuteviken and Sandviken that still remain, have deserved to get more known as a tourist attraction. Once there was about 170 of them along this seaside. Now a days there are about 30-40 left. Some are taken better care of than others. Last autumn, unfortunateley, some of them were destroyed in a fire, also three in a row, including the two on this picture. The facade on these two was not as destroyed as the third one.
