Photographer’s Note
Instants before sunset and moonrise. I made a neat 360 panorama VR (virtual reality) movie with this picture.
There are 8 small windows at the top of Washington Monument in Washington DC. They're dirty inside and outside plus they're thick and hazy. Lots of illumination to the monument at dusk create a mess of reflections. Thus I had no choice but to use photoshop to enhance the photo as much as possible.
From each side of the building I took 3 pictures and then stitched the 12 photos together. I hope it gives you an idea of the view from the top.
It's almost impossible to get tickets in the morning for the sunset slot. A week before my trip I reserved -for a small fee- the slot through the park's website. At that time half of the tickets where gone.
The monument is 555 feet tall with a 111 feet deep anchor; so it's 666 feet long...hmm...
