Between Moorise and Sunset Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here is the reason I was out here, to shoot the moon, before I was distracted by the Sunset that was competing for my attention and off course the little touching moment of a father and daughter, in my previous post. Good thing is I got back to my original task just in time to catch the moon as it was out of the clouds.

Laguna Beach includes 7 miles of coastline with some of Southern California most scenic beaches and coves you'll find along the Southern California coast. The best tide pools, diving opportunities, and best sunsets on this region of California coast are right in Laguna Beach. Home to mansions and quaint cottages that line bluffs above the sandy coves, for over 100 years, tourists have flocked to a little piece of paradise to scuba dive, to paint the colors of nature which seem more vibrant there and to enjoy natural beauty not seen elsewhere. Laguna Beach enjoys healthy tourism with over 3 million visitors each year. Note: These numbers do not factor in local day visitors like myself within a close radius to Laguna Beach.

Hi Way,
what a stunning image you show us here, the colors are wonderful and warm and that sky is just gorgeous! Excellent capture, the people add life and the whole scenery makes me want to book the next flight to California, it just looks so idyllic. Great one!

Once again a marvelous shot as you have so many in your gallery.
You share here a magical moment. The pastel colours provide a peaceful atmosphere and the place seems to be very plesant.
The composition is perfectly thought, with a great diagonal and the moon ideally placed to catch the eyes.

Composition and management of light are the true highlights here! Thus, with all the elements so perfectly placed in the frame and those magnificent colors, the image is quite attractive, it seems very romantic to me, and I really like it a lot!

Hello Way, very nice sharp detail seen in this shot of yours. Your timing is very good. I like the colour you've captured here with this late shot, and with the capture of that moon. The inclusion of the people on the rock is subtle but adds a lot to this one.

Not everyday that you can see something like that. Great POV with the wonderful light and colours of the sunset on the buildings and the cliffs while the big moon is rising. Great sky and beautiful details. Excellent work!

Hi Way, top marks for getting out there at that time, the wait was worth it. The moonrise is beautiful (BTW did you know this month that Mars is travelling the closest it's ever been to the earth in recorded history? Apparently around 27 August it will be the same size as the moon. I'll be interested to see if you take advantage of that. TFS, it's always a pleasure to view your photos, Lisa.

Oh look at this MOON! You remind me that I should be more outside when the moon gets round or even tiny ones are attractive. Yes all these things, many ideas in my head. Fantastic picture, Way, the palm trees on the side are always an eye catcher, especially for me with only fir trees :))) around the corner (sounds a little heavy ... LOL). We have some palm trees in the Ticino area but they would never grow as tall. Probably another "brand". But you know Ticino, what am I writing. The pink evening sky is really something but I also like the house rows at the sea front, what a place to have a flat. Have a wonderful day ... at the beach maybe ... or sitting inside working ... I've been checking for days for a new post from you and then I miss it when you do post. I'm going to put you in my favourites and then I'll know next time you post.
Another beauty from you. This time with the moon, but the sunset colours are still affecting the sky. It looks like the last of the rays are illuminating the distant city anad you havae teased plenty of detail from the shaded foreground.

beautiful shot, beautiful situation there with the presence of lady the moon and the falling sun giving so beautiful colors.
the foreground is perhaps a little bit too present there on the compo, i would have loved a view from further zoomed a little bit more

Nice mixture of nature and city landscape in background. Blue hour colours are excellent. Clouds, moon and sea look great. As right part is clearly more interesting than left maybe framing more towards right would be better.

Patience is needed if you wish to take a wonderful shot like this. It's an absolutely amazing moonrise. Colors and this special grey colors of the clouds. I like the palm trees. Love it !

The palm trees stand well and attract attention, so does the sun framed by the fine layers of clouds!
A wonderful pastel palette sets the evening mood and I can see some people out to enjoy the sunset...
A balanced composition of high technical standard!

Great shot of the moon, snuggled in between the layers of clouds. I also like the way the shoreline and background are so sharp. Only the cut-off trees seem a bit strange.

The light you got here is delicious! Love how it bathes the thin trunks of the palm trees in a reddish hue! Your POV is very nice, dividing the frame almost in a diagonal, with the city in the BG & the fabulous moonrise between the layers of clouds! The gradation of colours in the sky is beautiful! A very fine shot!
