Castelluccio for Silvio Photo

Photographer’s Note

I am still in Italy at friends then I take advantage of it to post a photo of this fantastic day pass together with Silvio Silvio 1953 and his wife in Castelluccio.
The plateau was formed following the drying out of a lake, there is thousands of years. It is situated in approximately 1300 m of height. It is surrounded with mountains and reminds the big plateau of Central Asia. It is the place that I discovered on TE on Silvio's gallery and that I wanted to see. Normally, the hay is cut in this period of the year and there are not flowers anymore, but, as the spring was very rainy this year, the vegetation was late and I had the luck to see this extraordinary patchwork of flowers and colors. It was a great moment of my journey in Italy.
I liked here playing with the electric poles which cross the plateau to bring the electricity to the village situated in more than 1 400 m of height which is provided by helicopter in winter when there is a lot of snow.

Je suis encore en Italie chez des amis alors j’en profite pour poster une photo de cette fantastique journée passer en compagnie de Silvio Silvio 1953 et de sa femme à Castelluccio.
Le plateau s’est formé à la suite de l’assèchement d’un lac, il y a des milliers d’années. Il se situe à environ 1300 m d’altitude. Il est entouré de montagnes et fait penser aux grands plateaux de l’Asie centrale. C’est un lieu que j’ai découvert sur TE sur la galerie de Silvio et que je voulais voir. Normalement, le foin est coupé à cette période de l’année et il n’y a plus de fleurs, mais, comme le printemps a été très pluvieux cette année, la végétation était en retard et j’ai eu la chance de voir de cet extraordinaire patchwork de fleurs et de couleurs. C’était un grand moment mon voyage en Italie.
J’ai aimé ici jouer avec les poteaux électriques qui traversent le plateau pour apporter l’électricité au village situé à plus de 1 400 m d’altitude qui est ravitaillé par hélicoptère en hiver quand il y a beaucoup de neige.

Sono ancora in Italia alla casa di amici allora approfitto per i mandare una foto di questa fantastica giornata passare in compagnia di Silvio Silvio 1953 e della sua moglie a Castelluccio.
Il altopiano si è formato in seguito al prosciugamento di un lago, ci sono delle migliaia di anni. Si trova a circa 1300 m di altitudine. È cinto da montagne e è fatto pensare ai grandi altopiani dell'Asia centrale.
È un luogo che ho scoperto su TE sulla galleria di Silvio e che volevo vedere. Normalmente, il fieno è tagliato a questo periodo dell'anno e non ci sono più di fiori, ma, siccome la primavera è stato molto piovosa questo anno, la vegetazione era in ritardo e ho avuto la fortuna di vedere questo straordinario patchwork di fiori e di colori. Era un grande momento del mio viaggio in Italia.
Ho amato giocare qui coi pali elettrici che attraversano il altopiano per portare l'elettricità al villaggio localizzato a più di 1 400 m di altitudine che è rifornita da elicottero in inverno quando c'è molta neve.

Quoi ? Qui vois-je ? Ca fait bien plaisir de te lire dis donc !
En plus, tu nous gâtes en prenant le temps de publier cette merveilleuse photo. Un très bel hommage à Silvio et aux superbes paysages italiens qu'il aime nous faire découvrir.
La palette de couleurs est incroyable, les contrastes saisissants, et sans les repères que sont les bottes de paille et les poteaux électriques, ce serait un magnifique tableau abstrait.
Tu es évidemment bien pensé, les poteaux pile dans la diagonale... Le soleil ne te fait pas perdre ton sens du détail ;o)

Je n'ose pas imaginer le nombre de cartes que tu vas ramener de ton séjour ! J'ai hâte ;o)

il en a de la chance Silvio, d'avoir une BELLE photo dédicacée! On ne peut pas rester inensible à un tel paysage coloré, avec des ombres qui traduisent le relief, et pour une fois, les poteaux électriques ne sont pas gênants (quoique celui de droite...mais il participe à la diagonale). Vive le mauvais temps!

ogni volta che passi in Italia ti capitano sempre splendide giornate ... bhè con Silvio poi in buone mani, soco certo tu abbia passato delle ore piacevoli, poi guarda che luoghi...complimenti, la regolazione dei toni è ottima, così come la definizione. Hai scelto il POV scendendo da Castelluccio verso il Piano Grande...
Ti posto nel WS la versione dei primi di luglio (in occasione del TE meeting)...come vedi sei stata fortunata poichè quest'anno la fioritura è stata tardiva.

Bonjour Diane,

A voir cette photo, je crois sans mal que c est un endroit magique. On a tout d abord cet eclairage tout en nuages et surtout le rendu pointillistes des fleurs dans les champs nous donnant une tres belle texture.
Tu as tres bien utilisé les lignes de poteaux dans la composition. Quitte a les avoir dans le cadre, autant les utiliser.

I like this patchwork of nice colours. The diagonal line created by the electricity poles give a good balance conpositionally as do the little dots of hay bales and the field edge to the road at the top.

A fine view indeed that looks unreal at first sight but your not explains that these are natural flower colours. They create a fantastic and poetic effect well captured. Good to focus on the fields alone without any special foreground or background. Let their beauty speak for itself...

Quelle chances pour toi d'avoir autant de fleurs pour contraster avec le foin. Belle profondeur grâce la la ligne des pylons et le chemin. Il manque peut-être un poil de nettété mais le résultat est comme une peinture.

J'en reste les bras ballants. C'est Diane, qui a fait ça? Tiens, étrange! Une belle réussite graphique en tout cas, avec de très jolies couleurs et un cadrage soigné pour avoir les pylônes dans la diagonale. Variante de titre: empreinte d'un paysage urbain à la campagne...lol!

I saw this picture yesterday night, was writing a crtq to it & dozed off (it was around 1 am our time). So here I am again! A beauty...two things attract me most, the lavender & red patches on the field & the hayrolls in the BG...but at the same time the gentle curve of the field plays an equal role in creating the beauty! I might be tempted to crop off the top part of the image (where there's no grass), but then it's your picture & you know what's best

it is a wonderful post. I love the textures and the colours and I wonder what kinds of flowers make the unusual blue and red tones in your shot.
I usually hate the electricity poles, but they surprisingly make a nice pattern in the picture.

just few days ago I spent some time looking at Monet's and Van Gog's paintings in the Met, your photo reminds me of them. the light seems to flow in this valley, illuminating the colours and textures. and good use of usually annoying electricity poles to add a lead-in line. great shot, my compliments.

How great that you got to share Silvio's special landscape -- something that I hope to do one day. Your image confirms that we all have a unique eye -- adding our individual vision to the same place. The light is splendid and I like the geometry of your slice of the plateau, with the road and power line cutting across the fields and the contrasting curves at the foot of the hill.

Cet endroit est magnifique,et tu y étais au bon moment, puisque c'était encore fleuri! Les couleurs sont très belles, les lignes et courbes des parcelles ont produit un bon impact graphique. De jolies ombres/lumières également!

la paleta de colores que vemos en este campo es realmente bella, y has sabido captarla magistralmente en este preciso encuadre cerrado sobre él, sin el cielo para que no nos distraiga.
La composición es impecable, bien realizada técnicamente, y tiene un elegante grafismo.
