Photographer’s Note
The view was incredible - the photo might be nice but it doesn't do the view in reality one bit of justice.
I took this shot a couple of days ago from the top of Gunung Kerinci. One of the most incredible experiences of my travels to date.
The volcano last erupted about a month ago shooting molten lava as high as 160m from the bottom of the crater (although not high enough to be seen above the rim - it's 300m to the bottom)
This volcano is 3805m high - 12600ft in old money!
Just though I'd share it, even though haven;t been using TE for a while. :)
Thanks for looking

Hi Lee,
looks very special indeed, that red in the crater makes the picture very special, combined to the morning light, that's a winner!

Hi Lee, good to see something from your travels. Must have been an incredible moment, looking down into the glowing depths of a volcano as the sun came up. Both elements of the forces which shape our planet. On the image, I might have gone for slightly less central positioning of the red glow, although hopefully without losing the other mountain on the right - could you have moved a little to the left? The wisp of smoke is a nice addition. On the frame - it might have been could to have the white line at the edge of the image, to separate the border from the picture better in the really dark areas. A very good TE image. Cheers, Steve

Hi Lee
Nice shot with contrast between the blue hour and the red lava lake, we can SEE the fumes getting out of crater.
Thank you for posting

Hi Lee. A truly amazing view! Can imagine a photo cannot do it real justice. But it's an excellent attempt anyway. The smoke flying from the volcano towards the spectacular sky is just amazing. An alltogether excellent shot.
Regards, Henrik.
And good luck on your Indonesia trip, by the way.
