Photographer’s Note

A man with his little son in Copacabana beach, in Rio de janeiro, I have already posted a picture with this same name but it's set in a beach in south India "Father and son".

Hi, Maria,

I love the tenderness you have captured in this photo even without showing us more than the corner of the eyes of the two main subjects. It is a terrific photo for the richness of the message it conveys.

Visually, I like the simple elements: the almost monochromatic sand, the rich cocoa skin colors, the single small wave on the blue-green water, and the soccer ball, so symbolic of male bonding.

Probably, I would have chosen a tighter crop, removing some of the foreground sand (not sharply focused) and also removing the sky from the image altogether. Nevertheless, this is a very nice image. Thanks for the post!

Nice capture here--one of those shots that captures the human experience so well. The pic is a bit grainy, but the exposure is just fine. Great job.

Nice intimate picture. Even if we do not see their faces one can imagine what the boy is telling his father.
