Photographer’s Note
These two boys are Biharis from Bodhgaya working for a Tibetan family in the Tibetan colony in Old Delhi. I saw them most mornings washing clothes in the alley near my guesthouse in Majnu ka Tilla.

Hi, Joan,
I'm impressed with the consistently excellent work you do in capturing images of people.
The expressions on the boys' faces display self assurance and pride.
Their clothes have the "hand-me-down from western origin" look that seems so common in Asia.
The colors are rendered very nicely throughout the frame.
Well done!

Hi Joan. The first thing I notice here is that the frame is full of good colour and texture, so that, the image has impact. I like the recession into the frame and the angle creates a sense of movement. You have two nice portraits. The contrast in their expressions is charming too. (One looking weary; the other looking mischievous)The cut off foot is a problem, but cutting limbs by the frame is always a problem and often cannot be avoided. You could have taken a step back and got the whole foot in and the composition might have had more integrity and completeness. You could have got a lower PoV, and got the whole figure in, but I feel, that in all else, the PoV you have chosen is probably the best. All in all a very successful image. You manage to make your kids likable and it is a good social documentary image.
Regards Kevin
