Mesmerizingly clear and turquoise water of La Cinta beach in nearby the town of San Teodoro. The shallow entrance to the sea, calm water and superfine (almost) white sand beach make this beach ideal for families. But be aware of getting sunburnt - the bright sea and sand reflect much of the sunrays. Take myself as a bad example - ended up red like a lobster after 4hrs on this beach. I though sun factor 15 was appropriate... :-)

And what´s wrong with the air? Behind a nearby hill fire burst out supported by fairly strong wind. Three fire airplanes had to be called to extinguish the flames. You can see some of the fumes in the distance above the sea.

Our experience with wild fire did not end there. About at midnight in Cala Gonone, another fire broke out and the wind was even wilder. From about 300-400 m distance, from our balcony, we saw flames more than 3 or 4m high and the firewall was about 200-300m wide. We knew that in the area is a gas station and a hotel opposite the street + many other houses...we had shivers even though it was hot as hell inside our apartment. We could not open the windows to let fresh air in, as the smoke covered the whole town.
Fortunately, the fire was under control in about 3 hours and in the morning a helicopter was extinguishing last smoking areas. No houses seemed to be harmed, luckily the petrol station as well, which was only few meters from the burnt area.
