Photographer’s Note
Mount Shivlinga in the Gharwal region of Himalaya is considered as a "Dream Mountain". The height is 6543 mtr. (Approx. 22,000 feet). The mountain is popular in trekkers because it’s uncommon shape. From one side it looks like "Lord Ganesha" and from another side it looks like "Pind" of Lord Shiva that is the reason it is named as Mount Shivling.
The trekkers had to pass through Herculean task because of its unusual geographical conditions such as heavy snowfall, avalanches, low air in the highest area, 5000 feet narrow road, 90 degree straight climbing, 300 feet ice wall, at last stage narrow space for tents, unstable weather conditions and other natural calamities.
Mount Shivlinga has great history. It has in all ten routes for climbing. The first attempt was made by ITBP, which was led by Hukum Singh on 3rd June 1974. They chose West Ridge route at Shivlinga. In 1983 the Indian Army became successful in ascending this peak but another civilian group was unsuccessful. Many civilian trekkers had to sacrifice their lives.
A team of nine members from Giripremi Club, Pune (India) completed the mission of capturing successfully on 9th June 2007. Mount Shivling is very different as compared to other mountains. No doubt "Everest" is the toppest in the World but the challenges of Shivlinga are different and difficult.
I hope you will like it.

Your photo conveys the impression that Shivling is 'just there'. Unexpectedly although completely expected. this impression has to do with the lines and the strength conveyed by those lines there which you have managed to bring onto your photo and the web. Thank you for sharing this extremely special moment with us, MK Goyal.

Mehandra Hi, this photo is very beautiful. The mountain seems a monument of ice. The pyramid shape on top is a perfect crown to such a beautiful mountain and speak almost perfect vertices of a very difficult climb, a challenge for mountaineers and it is not surprising that the summit has taken several lives.
I did not know pictures of this mountain and is another example of how interesting it is India.
Very good job, thanks for sharing
Congratulations
