A Taça (The Cup) - Revisited Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is another re-work. Once more, instead of the badly executed hdr, I chose to work with different exposures and then manually merge them together in photoshop. One step further, comparing the two versions :)

I'd like to thank Pablo Minto for making me remember about this one.

Here is the original note:

This is the famous "The Cup", a natural sandstone rock formation, inside Vila Velha State Park, Parana, Brazil. The place is full of interesting rocks that were being formed million of years ago. Click here to see the location.

Belíssimo trabalho, especialmente nas sombras onde o equilíbrio da luz ficou ótimo, bem como a nitidez.A taça nem se fala ficou com um belo tom dourado tendo como bg este lindo céu.Muito bom!

lembro muito bem dessa foto sua, que já achava ótima, mas impressionante como melhorou a qualidade, também tenho vontade de fazer um trabalho como esse em algumas fotos antigas minhas, alguns já estão até prontos, mas meu arquivo ainda está cheio de fotos...

You were right to return on this photograph, therefore, thank you Pablo… Indeed this geological formation needed a postprocessing to give it color and light. A good renovation of the image, cheer Carlos and thank you for the interesting photograph.

A curious and very nice natural sculptur. Colors and contrast very well collected and good managment of light. The very nice red color arise very well under this beautiful blue sky.

Stunning place .. in a tremendous light .. great work with exposures .. very natural .. I might do horrible things with the clone tool to the plants peering in from the left edge .. tremendous image .. immediately striking and gratifying when you spend time with it .. very nice.

All around the world there is a rock like this one, here in Spain you can find "el Torno" at the Enchanted City in the province of Cuenca.

ainda não sei o que é esse tal de HDR (desculpe minha ignorância), creio que é um programa, lente ou sei lá o que que suaviza as áreas escuras e as muito iluminadas, não é ? o que eu sei é que a foto está com uma nitidez maravilhosa, desde as áreas de sombra até as iluminadas. lindo trabalho, a taça parece de ouro. parabéns

This is a really unique natural phenomenon. It seems that National parks in Brazil is not less interesting than those in US. The Cup is excellently captured under so nice lighting. Brilliant job!
