Mothers Are From Venus Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another of those accidental shots which turned out to be a perfect tribute to motherhood. I was lazing around in the lawns of India Gate one evening, not knowing what t do because I have already taken enough shots of the famed monuments , then I saw this lady who was probably a laborer working on some cleaning and renovation and the moment captured me as she held her little son on her shoulders and walked towards the Venus ice cream vendor, so aptly waiting there to complete my moment.
perhaps amongst the few poignant people shots that I have taken and wanted to share with all my friends on TE.

Hi Aadiil, No arches this time? Haha, I sent arches for you :)). Very nice photo, so typical for India. Mother bare foot but in beautiful dress and with golden bracelets. Are prams used in India? I almost never see prams in Asia or South America, I wonder if is it comfortable for mother and child.

This is an image so different from usually yours, but so beautiful and well composed in the same way.
If a photographer has a great eye and a great sensibility like you has, you can change subjet but the result is always great!!!
I like a lot the hues and the colours, well done.

I must say it was a nice accident(accidental shot), it has got your stamp on it, simple min imalistic and classy. However it might have been better if there was some gap between the icecream cart anf the colourfully dressed mother.

Hello Aadiil! Venus ice cream sounds delicious on the other hand not many were standing in line :))) but maybe it was too early in the day for an ice cream. Yes THESE moments, I am glad you caught him while sitting there and yes there is always something with words and people walking by or sitting there, I like word games and should have my eyes more open for such moments. the first time I came in India,I was amazed by the beauty and the grace of the indian women,and I liked watching at them going away from back to admire the drape of their clothes!And just for this,I love this picture!I also like the ice-cream stand,we can't find them like this one anymore in France!Superb!

not what I'm used to see in your posts, but again a great shot, your timing was perfect :) one of those tricky situations when sharp background would be too distractive, but you still need some focus to see "Venus" sign that adds context to the scene, but I think your balance between blurred and sharp is just right.

I think that the square format would have worked quite well here, giving a more important space to each character.
Is it an icecream seller at the background?
Its name is a good opportunity for you to make the link between Venus and motherhood, well seen!

Of course..Mothers are special, what ever cultural social background they come from.
This is a fine perspective...The Ice cream box on the Backgrounds adds up to a nice story and seems to beb a nice rejoinder for a Ruskin Bond short story.

A very different picture from you! Like the variation here from you. What I (as a viewer) might have liked is a bit of clear ground (or space) between the subject & the ice-cream trolley, to avoid juxtaposition. Interesting use of the word Venus as well by you!

I like the play on words from John Gray's book. You only had a few seconds to take advantage of the situation and it has worked out well, although in a perfect world the woman would be further right in the frame and not central. Her red sari is really eye-catching and the mother role is well emphasised with the little boy on her back. Well spotted

Yes, one of your few people shots, Aadil. The woman is turned from our view, but the child is not, and the mother's rich red dress dominates the picture. I like the background, which is blurry but not so much that we cannot distinguish the ice cream man and the signs. A very fortuitous daily life photo.

You were very alert to recognise the John Gray connection and must have responded with great speed!
It is so good to have her, and her intoxicatingly bright shawl in direct connection with the ice-cream van.
If you could have planned the shot more carefully, I'm sure you would have had her more to the right of the frame. However, you were alert enough to capture her, full stop!

Not your typical style of photo or hallways of architecture. I like that you going out of your comfort zone to also capture some people which to me bring a different kind of emotion to the image. In some way I kind of wish to see her face, but in someway it is enough to suggest the love that is in the body language the way she carry her son and perhaps walking toward the vendor to get a little sweet for her son. Beautiful shot.
